Medication Administration (Schools/Child Care Centers)
This class is required by the state of Colorado for all licensed child care providers. Our nurse educators are Healthy Child Care Colorado approved medication administration trainers. Topics include a medication overview, handling and administration of routine medications, Epi-Pen training, medication orders and documentation, and rights and responsibilities.
Now teaching the new 2018 edition of Medication Administration Training materials.
Cost: $45.00 per student, includes online student manual, sample forms booklet, and a 3 year certification.
Colorado Medication Administration Training Access and Instructions
STEPS for accessing and completing the on-line MAT training, for licensed child care programs:
ACCESS:
- Create a PDIS Account via https://ecpd.costartstrong.org/ets/login.aspx (PDIS Login Link) Register Now! complete steps 1-5.
- Once registered, login to PDIS
- Click “Course Catalog”
- In the search box type: “Medication Administration”
- You should see these 3 boxes:
- Click “Course Catalog”

- Click “Get Item” within all boxes you are required to take
- Select Part 1, only, for Full Medication Administration Training
- Asthma and Severe Allergies are BOTH required for Emergency Medication Training.
- This will add these trainings to your personal dashboard
- Click “Get Item” within all boxes you are required to take
- Click “My Dashboard” to see the trainings and to begin taking the course
- When you click into the training, you will see a list of “course content”.

COMPLETE ON-LINE TRAININGS:
- “Medication Administration Training, Part 1” – This is the FULL MAT and includes information about routine medications administered in licensed child care programs, including oral, topical, inhaled medications and one injectable medication – the epinephrine auto injector.
- “Medication Administration Training: Asthma and Inhaled Medications ONLY” – This training includes information about only inhaled emergency medications to be administered in licensed child care programs.
- “Medication Administration Training: Severe Allergies/Anaphylaxis ONLY” – This training includes information about only severe allergy emergency medications to be administered in licensed child care programs.
Once course(s) are successfully completed and the participant has successfully passed the embedded test/assessment, the system will generate a certificate specific to each course and each participant. These will be titled Colorado Shines Certificate and are required to be printed and present at the START of the in-person, skill/hands-on portion (Part 2) and delegation (Part 3). When printing please choose the “view as PDF” in order to download the correct view. There must be a place for the nurse to sign and the PDIS emblem must be present on the certificate. The skills/hands-on (Part 2), portion of this training must be completed within 30 days of successful completion of the on-line training or date of certification.

ACCESS:
- Create a CO.TRAIN Account via CO.TRAIN Link, click “Create an Account”
- Once registered, login to CO.TRAIN.
- Click “COURSE CATALOG”
- In the search box type: “Medication Administration” and look for 2 courses:
- Colorado Medication Administration Training for Unlicensed Assistive Personnel
- Medication Administration Training: Emergency Medication
- Select each course and click “+ Register”. Once you have registered for the course(s), they will populate under “YOUR LEARNING”.
- In the search box type: “Medication Administration” and look for 2 courses:
